Parliament speaker calls for joint work between the Committees on Tribes and Women to form a joint parliamentary committee to investigate the problems affecting the rights of woman
Council of Representatives Speaker Dr. Salim al-Jubouri called for forming the Supreme Council for Women and Family Affairs to meet the desired ambition in the next phase in order to defend their rights and gains in the current period.
His Excellency stressed, during a symposium organized by the parliamentary Commission on Tribes in cooperation with the Committee on Women, Family and Children, on Wednesday, 26 August 2015, entitled (the dignity of woman in tribal custom) that was headed by him, on the importance of joint work between the Committees on Tribes and Women to form a joint parliamentary committee to investigate the problems affecting women's rights, especially the return of some practices that violate the law under the title of habits that have become part of the rejected approach by tribes and law.
Speaker Al-Jubouri illustrated that the Council of Representatives is still working in collaboration with the political blocs to speed up the endorsement of the Tribes Law, which will solve many of the problems related to this subject. He said that this law will provide an opportunity to develop an agreed list of action that surrounds all those irresponsible actions that are being done under the title of tribe, customs and traditions.
His Excellency pointed out that there are attempts trying to go away from the interests of much-needed street which consists of four main files namely, the rehabilitation of services, achieving security, holding corrupted officials accountable and raising the standard of living of citizens.
